George Alexander Akins, the beloved son of Alexander, Jr. (deceased) and Leashure (Betty) Kelley-Akins, departed his life on January 17th, 2025, at 10:40 am at Yale New Haven Hospital after a short illness. George was meticulous in everything. Quite entertaining, loved to laugh, many times the life of the party.

George loved life, his family and his “BOYS”. His two babies were the center of his universe. He regretted times when he was not available to be with them, a true father. He was there for his mother and kept her best interest at heart. What an example of love and devotion. Hard beginnings molded him and sometimes hindered his trust in people. He was a man of valor and tried his best to succeed in life. We celebrate this wonderful young man. His life spoke for him. The rest is in the hands of a loving and all-knowing God. George leaves to cherish his loving mother, Leashure K. Akins, his sister Tanisha B. (John) Collins and his beautiful children Alexander (son) and Vayda (daughter). He also leaves to cherish his maternal uncle Frank E. Kelley, aunt Edith (Samuel) Darden and aunt Norener Kelley. Fraternal aunts Mary Wilkins and Clarissa Akins. Uncles Kenneth Akins and Larry Akins. Two nephews, Juwan Akins and John Collins, and a host of family and friends. We all loved him, but God loved him best.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24 2025 from 9am-10:30am followed by a funeral home service starting at 10:30am in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave. Lincoln. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, RI.
